A clinical study was carried out on 123 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma operated during the two years between September, 1990 and August, 1992 at the Department of Surgery, Chungnam National University Hospital.
@ES The results were as follow:
@EN 1) Peak incidence was the sixth decade(40.7%), and male to female ratio was 1.56 : 1.
2) Diagnostic procedures were endoscopy(94.3%) ad upper gastrointestinal series(85.4%). Endoscopy969.1%) and upper gastrointestinal series(30.1%) were done firstly as the diagnostic procedure, respectively.
3) Distal one third of the stomach was prevalent site of tumor(60.2%).
4) The operative procedures performed were subtotal gastrectomy(73%) and total gastrectomy(16.3%). The overall resectability was 89.3%
5) Among the all gastric adenocarcinoma, 30 cases were early gastric cancer(24.4%).
6) Major complications of the anastomotic site were stenosis and bleeding. Four cases of stenosis were observed in the stapled group(4.8%), and one case in the manual group(2.8%). One cases of bleeding has occured in the stapled group(1.8%), and
one,
the manual group(2.8%).
